It could easily be said that one of the most beautiful road trip experiences throughout the United States is on the west coast along the breathtaking Pacific Coast Highway—and you won’t hear us disagreeing with this statement. The natural scenery of the Pacific Northwest is truly unparalleled, and it easily creates the perfect backdrop for the ideal summer road trip. With places along the path to stop at such as Hurricane Ridge, Haystack Rock and the Devil’s Punchbowl—each moment will be one to remember, from sunrise to sunset.
If there is one statement that is more true than any other in regards to the Pacific Northwest, it is that you will truly never run out of new hiking trails to discover. Within the state of Washington alone, you’ll be able to explore the seemingly endless trails that make up Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Wild Sky Wilderness, and if you take a longer drive further south into the state of Oregon, you’ll be able to take in the incredible scenery throughout both Spring Basin Wilderness and the Oregon Badlands Wilderness.
Moving from a day filled with activity to one focused on peace and serenity—there is nothing quite as magical on a summer night than sitting around a table with your loved ones and enjoying the local delicacies that the wineries throughout the region have available. Driving through the Columbia Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) is beautiful on its own, but pair it with various stops sipping the region's exquisite wine and you have an incredible weekend trip ahead of you this summer. The Pacific Northwest is home to a number of incredible wineries, and with the Willamette Valley AVA in Oregon and the Okanagan Valley AVA within British Columbia also readily available, you’ll have your work cut out for you as you this summer as you attempt to check each spot off of your list.
